This is the beginning

A code of ethics is essential as more examples of unprofessional behavior and poor integrity are discovered within organizations. Professionals create this document to ensure employees act in accordance with the organization’s values and principles. This code of ethics is used to protect employees from being caught violating company values and principles. While savvy business decisions can make an organization successful, unethical behavior can quickly destroy the legitimate work done. Professionals often act unethically in order to make more money. This may be a good way to get ahead in the short-term, but it can end up costing the company long-term. Although an ethical company may face greater difficulties at the start of its operations, the code will guide them to tangible results. Investors and the general public will be impressed with the positive origination. Employees will not only be guided by a code, but also by the guidance of their leaders. Leaders will have to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes. This paper will set guidelines for CVS Pharmacy employees to use to encourage ethical behavior. CVS will no longer be a provider of medication. It will become a supportive and active partner in helping customers achieve their goals. CVS is committed to upholding ethical standards and adhering strictly to all laws and regulations. CVS will make sure that every employee is respectful of customer privacy and provides all services to customers, no matter if they are filling prescriptions or stopping by to buy a snack. CVS’s core values and principles have been a leader in prescription medication, home and beauty supplies, household products, snacks, beverages and many other useful items. CVS is committed to helping customers achieve better health. All employees need to be aware of and adhere to the values and principles. CVS recognizes these values and principles.

Integrity is doing the right thing when no one’s looking.

Accountability: Take responsibility. Take responsibility for your behavior and actions. Learn from your mistakes.

Innovation – Teamwork and collaboration are key. Any colleague who is aware of better ways to meet the customer’s needs should let their boss know.

Diversity – There is much to be proud of and a great asset. Individuals of diverse backgrounds can make a difference by sharing their experiences and skills. No matter what background, all people will have equal opportunities and are encouraged to participate.

Respect – In order to have a positive experience shopping or working, everyone must respect customers and other colleagues.

Guidelines for ethical behavior There will be two types of data that are collected:

Protected Health Information – Also known as PII, this refers to information about an individual’s healthcare, including their health and the healthcare plans they have received.

Personally Identifiable Info (PII ) – Data that can be used for identification purposes, such as name, address and biological traits.

It is crucial to ensure all information is kept secret and private. Customers of CVS trust the company to keep their data confidential and comply with federal and state laws.

To provide services, certain CVS colleagues must have a certificate. The following are the responsibilities of employees:

Certifications don’t expire – While you may be competent to complete the tasks, CVS can face fines if the document is not kept current.

Notify Management if Ethical Concerns are Affective – This applies to situations outside the workplace that have led to an employee being convicted.

Management must be notified of any revoked credentials

Unethical behavior/Ethical Enforcement processes can result in severe penalties. Colleagues that engage in unethical behaviour can be disciplined to the point of termination. You can find below a list of possible disciplinary measures that could be taken depending upon the violation.

Counseling – A colleague can be provided with a written report on the violation. To prevent the violation from happening again, a plan of action will also be provided.

Suspension-A colleague can be fired for a set period of time. The situation may dictate that the colleague is suspended from work until the investigation is complete.

Termination – CVS reserves all rights to terminate employees for unethical conduct.

Ethical ComplaintsDue the nature of businesses, CVS knows that there are many factors that could influence individuals from making ethical choices. Contrasting interests, tight deadlines, and a lack thereof of ethical support can all have an impact on how ethical decisions are made. All colleagues are responsible for reporting any unethical situations they witness. CVS’s’see something. Say something’ policy has been adopted by the company and gives its employees a range of options when it comes to reporting concerns.

Discuss the matter with your immediate supervisor. All members on the management team have been trained to handle any ethical concerns that might arise. The colleague should contact another member of management if the immediate supervisor does not acknowledge the complaint.

Refer to other managers.

Contact the Ethical Department – This department has been trained to handle any ethical situation and will not share your personal information. If you have any questions about whether the situation is in line with company policy, this department can be reached. They can also guide employees on the best ways to handle ethical dilemmas. You can reach the ethics department via phone, email, and by downloading the CVS app for mobile.

Third Party Ethics Department- CVS aims to resolve any ethical issues as quickly and efficiently as possible. However, in some cases, a third party service may be required depending on the circumstances. To report violations or violations in the CVS ethical department, any colleague can contact this department.

No matter whether CVS employees work at the front-end or in the pharmacy, all members will be required to adhere to the code. This will allow for the smooth running of all organization operations without sacrificing time and effort to solve problems that could be avoided. Ethical work can be detrimental for the business. CVS was recently involved with the denial of prescriptions for transgendered women. This happened at a CVS shop in Arizona. The pharmacist refused to fill any of the three prescriptions and knew that it was against ethical standards. Instead of talking to the customer in private, the pharmacist in question loudly announced the denial and claimed that he was the same person as the customer. The customer then left the shop and called the CVS Customer Service line. They couldn’t resolve the problem. After leaving the store, she called CVS customer service. They couldn’t resolve her problem. Our world is connected. Any actions taken by organizations can be immediately brought to the attention of others, resulting in negative business results. This shows that even the most unethical behavior could have serious consequences. CVS now has the spotlight. Although this was an individual action, CVS will be seen as an organization that is not ethical. They can be seen to be an organization that does not care about LGBT rights. CVS now has to manage the damage and make sure the public is aware that they are LGTB friendly. They have to be accepted regardless of personal beliefs. No matter what personal beliefs are held by employees, leaders have to ensure that all people adhere to ethical standards. All employees should receive training, preferably annually. This will allow employees the time they need to understand and learn the code of ethics. While many organizations provide this document to employees to check they understand how their work is ethical, it should also be provided to all employees to help them prepare. A code of ethical conduct document is not meant to be a formal document that demonstrates an organization’s ethics. Instead, it should be a way of life for the entire organization. Cites
